iWiTTY TV Concept Lets Audience Take Control/PART 4
President, CEO, Producer, Director, Inventor, Former Channel Manager and among other titles TV Concept Creator Pekka Kossila was working for the world's first 24-7 interactive TV channel Moon TV Finland during 90'. Moon TV was part of Saraxa Group which developed and sold few dozen automated stand alone TV-channels around the globe.
This is his blog. Not only will he reveal what iWiTTY TV Concept is all about but he will speak up in third person and bring on to the table what it took to come up with the world’s first patented TV Concept, how it will change the way TV-, Web- and Radio-TV programs are done and what he aims to do with it {had I invented Reality TV}…
Interactive TV - No More Boxes!
For over 15 years there’s been dozens of variations of interactive TV boxes around the globe. Fist rule is that they have all failed! Why is it that companies still bang their heads and waste millions upon millions in to this impenetrable wall? Don’t they get it already?
Interactive TV has been coming for so long that as a customer I wouldn’t bet a penny that any single box ever could become global hit. But as we’ve seen people love to invent square wheel all over and all over again in hopes that it will eventually be better than the round one.
One must be a true believer to buy interactive TV box and to be even more believer in manufacturing one, thinking that people would really go for one certain box brand produced by one certain company. On top of that you have digital boxes, next generation game consoles, PVR’, satellite boxes, DVD’… Who really wants to get an additional box on top of all these boxes?
Question goes: Which “box” is in about every western home already? Which box can you say is truly a global and works with the same standard? Which box you could already use as a tool for interactive TV? Answer: Personal Computer a.k.a PC.
Software, mainframes and infrastructure are the only solution for a truly global TV success feature. At the end game on top of pc’, personal video recorders, digital boxes and game consoles even mobile phone can become a “box” one day.
Think of producing TV-program clips on the go. Think of recycling all the global footage that is in digitalized mode. Think of tracking, paying and getting copyright revenue. Think of 100’ of millions producers. Think of 100’ of millions participants or players. This sounds better than interactive TV?
This is why television isn’t by any means going to be dead. It is taking a deep breath but there’s a future and this future has also already a name: iWiTTY TV – World’s first patented TV concept.
Before going into deeper what iWiTTY will and can mean to normal individual, lets speculate which company could be the one developing the concept. A lot of big corporations are nowadays spreading their wings towards new media. Nokia developing tool for reporters with Reuters is one of the latest steps.
Old print/media houses are dying slow death while internet lives its new life with no end in sight. Videogame industry laughs to its beard while sales boom at record high. Big TV networks are taking hits at the same time while people spend more time doing something else than watching television.
Here's some of the bigger names on top of the hat that couldbe creating and developing the new concept:
A Apple
B BBC
C CBS
D Disney (ABC)
E Electronic Arts
F FOX
G Google
H Hewlett-Packard
I IBM, Intel, Infogrames
J Joost
K Konami
L Linux, Lucas

iWiTTY TV Concept Lets Audience Take Control / PART 2 (and 3)
President, CEO, Producer, Director, Inventor, Former Channel Manager and among other titles TV Concept Creator Pekka Kossila was working for the world's first 24-7 interactive TV channel Moon TV Finland during 90'.
- Back at the Moon TV times when I was watching these formats that were done with a zero budget my inspiration started to melt down. Surely creating these low and next to no budget programs, they demanded maximum originality but I just couldn’t see any of these formats or the format line up breaking in to the mass market which I slowly started to realize and saw my dreams totally slipping away. I had the best programmer to tell me all about restrictions while my ideas were flying years ahead. And then there was the budget thing which was often dodged to keep spirits up. After I left it took Moon TV three years to declare bankruptcy.
While Kossila was in Asia he was checking up the trends and behavior of the younger generation. It was too obvious how much people spent time with gaming. Surely gaming is no way to get rid of obesity but the boost you can get from it is overwhelming. Unless you have spent 36 hours in a row killing your friends online you know nothing about being addicted to gaming. That’s what it took him to start to realize what kinds of ingredients were needed in a successful mass interactive TV concept.
As he took a teaching job in Taiwan, his primary target was to get closer to the advanced target market; TV watching, video gaming generation Y that is suppose to be studying or working but wastes their time in gaming. Little by little he started to piece together picture where these guys could actually play their games but at the same learn creativity, productivity and independence to certain extend. Changing from killing fields of gaming to gaming that provides all these smarter options sounded like impossible task but he kept his eyes on the idea that all this wasted energy going to video- and online games could actually be producing something useful. He realized that he was after a massive secret that of which pieces were somewhat out in open already but the complete package was still hidden from logical viewpoint.
As an example you could look at the Reality TV format Cops which was a hit in early 90’ (and still ranks high) and still no one would realize that this kind of programming would draw audiences if it was used little bit other ways. Now third of the US TV programs are Reality TV based. Reality TV took off after Survivor pawed the way just 7 years ago and now people are getting a bit bored though they much appreciate the opportunity to be stars on TV. Its just how much the audience wants to watch these “home stars”.
Figuring out this logically (but not fully) already back before millennium Kossila suddenly saw the Big Picture – future of television and started to write down the outlines of the next generation interactive TV. It had taken him over five years, taken technology time to advance and minds to process through the massive wave of video game evolution before the basic recipe was cooked to a baking point.

iWiTTY TV Concept, TV-Program- and Radio-TV Program Production Method / System / PART 3
"There are three major sources of revenue (in the living room): games, Internet and TV," said Alan Yates, director of marketing for the WebTV platforms division.
"The people that put together the most compelling product based on a combination of those subsidies will be very successful."People around the globe will be in charge of future TV productions. Kind of like now, when they just post existing or remixed TV-clips to YouTube illegally.
Blogging, next to real online video games, movie downloads, individual radio stations, news videos by spectators and so on. The question is - what’s next for TV? The answer is: iWiTTY TV.
What has been the downfall of Interactive TV is that everyone is trying to sell their own box and this has been going on for over a decade already. Microsoft has announced their special box that changes the future. It won’t happen. Answer is to create software to ALL of these existing boxes at home.
People can create broadcast quality TV productions at home! Those who have internet connection, hard disc based device with controls likes of PC, next generation game console or PVR,(further down in future mobiles and other portable devices) can in future buy or download software that enables them to modify any digitized licensed video footage.
This footage could be sport clips, nature flicks, b-movies, flopped series or any other material that licensors want to get revitalized by the viewers. With the success everyone owning footage licenses will line up to create their own products and dozens of new series, formats will submerge.
Viewer-producers can edit given material by adding comic bubbles, animations, shouts, comments, sound effects, digital masks, music, stills, headlines and other effects to their TV production clip. Aim is simply to entertain other viewers, gain success, rankings, credits and ultimately cash and stardom.
Web preview and voting method sees that only the funniest (most educating, most scary, most entertaining, most...) clips will be in the main stream. Best of the best clips will end up to real producers' screening rooms. Clips that will be broadcast in tens of new television formats will be upgraded from original video footage store to the necessary broadcast quality. Those clips that won’t make it to even night time TV-broadcasts will be shown on the Web and sold in collections on DVD (or similar format) or as downloads.
Unlike in current video up- and downloads on the web, footage is directly licensed for the purpose and licensor's get their share of the profits from the software sales and global TV broadcasts, which can be calculated by the fraction of the second. Also there's no need to send the whole package but "video in and video out" marks since data exists in mainframes. This will make uploading fast.
New method of making TV- and new media entertainment is called iWiTTY TV concept. It's the first ever patented TV concept. Think how rich one would be of owning Patent for Reality TV. Here’s few facts about iWiTTY TV concept:
1# Future iWiTTY TV formats come in every genre: iWiTTY Talk Show-, -Game Show, -Entertainment, -News, -Sports, -Horror, -Drama, -Soup, -Sitcom, -Cartoon, -Animation, -Action, -Nature, -Kids, -Feature Film, -Music TV,-Reality TV... and of course plain iWiTTY TV.

channel in the world. Moon TV Finland went to air on 01/97.
3# iWiTTY TV Concept is the only TV Concept that always requires participants to download or buy software and thus is patentable.

iWiTTY TV Concept Lets Audience Take Control / PART 1
After the realization that making hit productions for the masses were not in sight with in the existing Saraxa system, he went on to research, study and eventually found new way to create next generation interactive TV (iTV).
The main failure of previous iTV's had been that they all required an additional box in order to work. It had proven to be too high obstacle after dozens of failed world wide trials and to his opinion this problem will remain also so in the future – additional box is not an option.
The Saraxa system Kossila was working with didn't need one but it was a generally lackluster with its options and that was the main reason why he shifted the gear and took off for his mission to find out what that boxless mass interactive system could be.
After over five years of intense relaxing, pondering and research, pieces finally fell together. Result: The first ever patented TV Concept - which will enable millions of people, continents, countries, states and/or cities scuffle against each other without a need of buying that additional earmarked set-top box.
New concept he worked out is neither a lackluster or does it require set-top box and therefore the future triumph needed a new name to point out that it is not iTV but something else - the future of streaming television. It is way smarter, wittier than any of the previous iTV attempts; i (me) WiTTY (smart, clever) with two small i’s (sequels often come with higher numbers) it projects out the extra boost it brings for the generation Y with all the extended chances it provides for the interaction without that additional, useless costly box.
It gives the opportunity to hand out 100 percent control over the TV-, Web- Radio-TV and Mobile TV productions to the audience. With iWiTTY TV Concept people can produce broadcast quality level productions at home. With dozens of new breed format possibilities it will open whole new TV-, Web- and TV-Radio world without copyright issues. And not to lose the readers here, these will be mostly massively interactive where everything you do has an effect to your scores, results and ultimately to your life – whether you become a millionaire, star or not.
- Check this up. If someone told you seven years ago that You can have your own radio- and TV station and broadcast globally to certain extend without worrying about copyrights that you can control from paradise island or any other spot in the world by using your laptop requiring just wireless internet connection, what would you have said? That time I had just finished making soundtrack to my book with PlayStation 1 and felt that I’m not behind the time but way ahead of it.
- Word “broadcasting” will most likely become one of those “telex” words and change to streaming or something more clever since who needs or wants to wait and catch that certain program at the certain time when they have the option to catch it up after coming home and by that time broadcast is over and program is waiting for you in your mailbox. Well, that really has nothing to do with the actual iWiTTY TV invention. There is that streaming and then there is the content you want to stream and iWiTTY TV is all about content and letting audience take control of it…
